Your body is much smarter than you think. If you continue to do the same workout day in and day out – you will get in a rut. Muscles won’t hurt anymore. Results will come to a stand still. And most of all – you’ll get bored! All of this usually results in waving the white flag and people give up on the health and fitness journey.
Trying something new isn’t just beneficial for your physical well-being but also your mental health as well.
This past weekend, I decided to try something new. I attempted to snowboard. My friend and I left for Okemo at 7 in the morning. Not really my typical idea of fun on a Sunday morning after a long week that will undoubtedly turn into another week equally as long. Leaving at 7 was definitely worth it, we were the third car to arrive. Talk about VIP parking!
It was such a good decision! It’s always fun being somewhat of a tourist. The last time I went to Vermont was 3 years ago, when I was looking at potential colleges to attend.
Although it took me a good hour to finally stand, I was snowboarding (and falling) in no time. The hardest part was getting the confidence to just do it. Luckily for me, my legs are more conditioned than I thought. Teaching cycling 4 days a week will do that to you. As for my butt…. that only took two days to recover from the bruising.
Best part of the day? Smokin’ bowls. No, not the kind you’re thinking! Just a teenie little hut with an amazing soup collection. I’d suggest the black bean lime cilantro. Tip: they only accept cash or check, no credit!
