Errors equal new Opportunities

So, those of you who know me personally know that anything that can possibly go wrong, usually does. I have the absolute worst luck, which has translated into me having some of the best opportunities I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve learned to love my unfortunate luck and have found ways to deal with it. This is one of the many contributing factors that has shaped me into what some would call “a control freak”. I like to know what’s happening before it happens and when it’s happening. My close friends appreciate it and I have affectionately earned the title of “Mom”. Of course life is tricky and we can never really be in charge of everything but the way I see it – the more I can control, the less room for error.

Traveling isn’t always the easiest feat for me because there are so many variables out of my control. So, remember that vacation I was going to take that got all screwed up because my friend had a work obligation come up that couldn’t be ignored? Well, I’m still taking it. Only now I’m not staying at said friends house, but I am staying in an adorable little hotel on South Beach with two great friends.
Like I wrote in my last post, I was totally bummed when I found out I wasn’t going to be able to see the friend I was originally planning on seeing but, I wasn’t going to let it get me down. Getting a hotel room for myself was a) way out of my “post-grad waiting tables til my next life venture” budget and b) not the smartest thing for a 23 year old girl to do in an unfamiliar city.. so, what did I do? I used one my lifelines, I phoned some friends.

Luckily for me, I have friends in many parts of the world and they’re all fabulous (you are the company you keep after all!). So not only do I get to reunite with a friend I haven’t seen in a while, I also get to see friends I haven’t seen in YEARS because I’ll now be more conveniently located in the Sunshine State. Not only that, but my friend Peter will be meeting me down there, to celebrate our “6 month anniversary” from when we met back in March, in Miami at a music festival of all places. Ultra, perhaps you’ve heard of it?

So, next time life kicks you in toosh, keep going; it’s probably just forcing you in another direction that could very well be better than the original one you were going in to begin with.
